Weekly Report April 14-18
It was a slow, relaxed week here at Ambleside Classical. Our schedule is slowing down and we are enjoying it. Our Official School Year is finished, and now we are just doing a bit of this and a bit of that. I have been allowing Miss M to sleep in a little later. School days have been light and 'unschoolish,' and we have been reading frivolous novels and spending as much time as possible outdoors. Here are a few highlights:
- Field Trip to a local Science and Technology Center. Went home $165 poorer, since I couldn't resist signing Miss M up for a summer camp there!
- Spring, spring, spring! Spring has finally sprung, and we have been able to get outside and enjoy several games of tennis with each other and friends. If it is warm enough, we will begin our day with a tennis game each morning.
- Began our new Composer Study (finally!)
- Miss M designed and made a crocheted stuffed animal - a cute, black puppy with floppy ears!
- Wrote and illustrated a comic strip story
- Read Aloud: Finished reading The Penderwicks, and began Seven Daughters and Seven Sons.
- Miss M came up with the idea of creating "Thank You" cards for all four of her co-op teachers and spent a morning making these with love and care.
We look forward to getting out and doing some nature hikes soon. In celebration of Spring, I'll close with some lines by Christina Rossetti:
What are heavy? sea-sand and sorrow:
What are brief? to-day and to-morrow:
What are frail? Spring blossoms and youth:
What are deep? the ocean and truth

Glad to hear the weather is warming up your way! We like tennis too! Science summer camp sounds so cool. That's money well spent! Loved the poem. It's a keeper and I'll be jotting it down in my notebook. Our school days are a little lighter too and it's a nice break from the typical work load. Have a great week!

Wow! You're officially done! Congratulations! :o) You got some much done for your 1st "no school" week. :o)
Ms. M will have a blast at the summer camp. We don't have anything close to us like that or I'd like to put the kids in something like that.
What a thoughtful girl. Her co-op teacher will love them. Oh and I finally responded to your co-op question at my blog. If you would like direct links to the co-op I have attended or another large one in our area, just email me and I will send them to you. :o)
Have a wonderful rest of the week!

Your days sound very enticing! I'm sure Miss M will enjoy the science summer camp! You'll have to keep us updated as to what she is doing/learning!
Hi Tami!
I found you through the WTM boards (I think). We ue Ambleside with our 3 boys and I like seeing what other "Amblesiders" are doing. :) Growing up in the Eagan/Mendota Heights area makes your blog all the more special to me, it is such a wonderful place to live! We currently reside in Florida but I miss the twin Cities a lot!
